Swim Course

Sprint: 400m
Olympic: 1.5k
Swim Course Map
Swim Course Info
Both distances begin from the Harriott II Riverboat, with the boat stopping at the 400 meter mark for sprint swimmers to take the jump first, in time trial fashion. The boat then proceeds to 1500 meters for Olympic participants to begin their time trial swim.

Race numbers are assigned by estimated swim time for all categories. A racer will enter the water approximately every 3 seconds, with relay teams and aquabike starting mixed in with individuals. Course buoys will be placed for guidance to the swim exit at the dock where participants boarded the Harriott II.

Pre-register by the Wednesday night before the race to get a spot in the swim order. After that time racers are assigned the upper numbers and start at the rear. Should the race be changed to a duathlon due to adverse water conditions, the run start will be conducted also as a time trial start based on race number. The Olympic distance will be a one-mile run and the sprint a half-mile run.

The race transition area is organized based on your assigned race number. The bike racks are marked by ranges of "7" numbers, beginning with 1 through 7 and so on. Each bike rack ROW is also marked with a sign to help you find your row as you complete your swim-to-bike and bike-to-run transitions. Bikes do not have to be racked in numerical order ON the rack, but must be placed on the rack designated for your race number range.

Both tri distances and the duathlon will follow the same out & back course with the Olympic distance completing two loops. The course will be on city roads and managed by local police and volunteers. Make certain to follow their direction for a safe, enjoyable ride.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Going out and back bikers will bike in the left lane and they are separated by cones from vehicular traffic in the right lane. Please keep in mind that you will still ride to the RIGHT in your designated bike lane.

For both distances, there will be a BIKE MOUNT / DISMOUNT LINE. You will walk your bike from your space on the transition bike rack to the BIKE MOUNT line to begin the bike segment. At the finish of your bike segment, you will DISMOUNT at the same line and walk your bike back to your space on the transition bike rack.

We use timing chips on disposable self-adhesive ankle bands, body marking or temporary race number tattoos, helmet numbers, bike frame numbers, wrist bands, and bib numbers to ensure we keep track of you during the race and provide you accurate results.

Wear the ankle band on your left ankle and attach your bike frame number to your bike before checking into the bike transition area.

· Photo ID Required.

· All racers, including relay team members, must pick up their own race packet.

· All racers will receive an envelope with a helmet number, bike frame number, bib number, and wrist band to be detached from the bib number and worn at all times.

· All racers will receive an electronic timing chip on a disposable self-adhesive ankle band.

· Be sure you still have your body marking or race bib number and the provided wrist band to retrieve your equipment from the race transition area.

· This area is controlled for your safety so we can insure only racers enter the area and take only their equipment.

· Racers will be allowed to retrieve their bikes after the last biker returns from the bike course or as soon as race staff feels like they can safely escort racers to their bike rack location without interfering with another participants race.

· There is an exit gate marked in transition - please look for this gate to retrieve your belongings - this gate is not typically the bike in / out or run out area, but a neutral location that allows those that finish early to remove items while others are still racing.
